Nothing Gold Can Stay
The title of the poem Is metaphorical which, makes comparisons to the young and youth. Gold represents value and wealth. Therefore when it says ââ¬Å"Nothing Gold Can Stayâ⬠it simply that nothing precious or of great value in the materialistic sense can stay forever. Gold symbolizes materialism, it would not last for long and it will give a false sense of security and happiness. Gold, which is money based, can take years to accumulate but can be washed away in a millisecond. On the other hand, things that have emotional and sentimental value cannot be bought with Gold and therefore will main throughout one's entire life. Nature represents the flirts Instance of gold. ââ¬Å"Green is Goldâ⬠represents the natural world that is the New England forests Frost loved for most of his life. The color of money is green may also indicative of lifespan of the person in comparison to the seasons. The spring is when everything is new, Green the summer youth hot and passionate, the fall change various emotions, the winter dying death and cold. The birth of the baby Is stunning, their skin is soft they are fragile to hold, they grow so fast, their beauty, and the purity they have Inside Is ere fresh and clean. I remember when I was a kid I would ask my parents questions about everything I saw. All nature was seen too, however as time passed it became normal. As I grew older I gained more knowledge and memory was no longer green. Example, when I was a baby I don't know how to lie to my parents, to anybody, but growing older learn how to lie and purity was not found again. When you are young, things are great and perfect, nothing to worry about but it Is Impossible to keep that sense of security all the time. It Is a flower that grows from seed, blooms, grows, and after a while it dies. We can also refer to green as it relates to the creation of the world. Everything created by God is green in nature. The green is the symbol of life and prosperity, for example money is green and when nature is described green typically comes to mind.In fact, when you look the green nature, it is pleasing to the eyes. However, due to man's greed they only see Gold. This Gold Is the first green because all humans care about Is Gold and as a result they are giving It greater importance than nature, our source of life. Being that nature supplied the earth with Gold, man take advantage of it. Then the nature loses its beauty and importance like it does in the morning! Then it turns to the hot, muggy afternoon. ââ¬Å"Her early leafs a flower but only so an hourâ⬠.It reminds us of how happy the first human creation of God living in the garden. The new life is so precious like a bud that turns to a beautiful flower, perfumed by Its natural essence yet a certain distraction ruins everything. The word ââ¬Å"Goldâ⬠either suggests the early leaf, which lacks sufficient pigment to be completely green, or perhaps a gold as in a golden age, a reality time n one's l ife, even gold relating to money, stating the physical component of things, which as the end of the poem suggests, ââ¬Å"Cannot Stayâ⬠.The nature of human life begins at a point of greatness in which all potentials represented by the flower's bud have been met In the open blossom. This point In the lifetimes of all Miming things lasts only at the most an hour. Eden represents the pure world before man was created to name everything, to tend to the animals and to the earth, before he and his wife disobeyed the divine by eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge, thus aiming mortality and opening the doorway into death upon the earth. Eden represents all beginnings, before there was knowledge of decay.Frost uses this element to visualize his idea that all things in nature, including the lives of people, reach a new height before they sink to grief. The poet uses nature as a person which a commonly used term as ââ¬Å"Mother Natureâ⬠, and I think the hidden meaning behind this is that the poem he has written carries the same message that has been preached for years, yet no one bothers to follow or listen to. Frost is not being entirely peoples in his poem; he is saying only that it is the ââ¬Å"Goldâ⬠in things which cannot last, their brightest. The reality of a human life is only met once and not met again. Purity is lost when knowledge is gained. I think the poem lends a powerful warning to all of us. Recognize what is really important in life, embrace it, and discards everything else. Appreciate every year, month, day, and minute. It is fleeting and we don't get a do over. Love your fellow man right now, friends, and family. Don't wait until tomorrow because it may never come. Spend life in the present, not in the past or the future. Nothing Gold Can Stay The title of the poem Is metaphorical which, makes comparisons to the young and youth. ICBT leads in presenting Edexcel HND ââ¬Ës. However, recent observations showed HND Business Management pupils showed an addition in hapless attendence & A ; promptness, failed in ontime bringing ensuing in late & A ; non bringing of assignments, & A ; the chief ground identified for the negative consequences were, pupils hapless clip direction accomplishments. This negatively effects cardinal stakeholders such as institute, pupils, parents & A ; talks, ensuing in inability of pupils to achive good classs, incresed emphasis & A ; old ages taken to finish the HND, reduced the pattern working on deadlines, makes ICBT unable to make its mission & A ; vision, impacts the bing positive image with Edexcel & A ; the market, fades parents ends & A ; hopes, increses force per unit area upon lectors & A ; leads to demotivation as consequences are non achived as expected from pupils. Importance of a solution was recognized, & A ; identified bettering pupils be aftering & A ; forming, prioritizing & A ; end puting accomplishments improves clip managemnet accomplishments. Bettering the sead accomplishments, increses pupils on clip entry rates, capableness to work on clip & A ; reduces emphasis, enable ICBT range its mission & A ; vision & A ; maintain good name with both Edexcel & A ; the market, cut down work burden force per unit area & A ; increses motive of lectors & A ; lead parents see their kids achiving success. Key Words ââ¬â Students, Time direction accomplishmentsTable of ContentssTable of ContentssList of Tables & A ; FiguresList of tabular arraiesList of figuresList of AbbreviationsICBT ââ¬â International College of Business & A ; engineering LtdIntroductionEstablished since twelvemonth 2000 ( ICBT, 2011 ) International College of Business & A ; Technology Ltd ( ICBT ) has become one of the most prima private sector higher instruction offering institute in Sri Lanka offering assortment of interantionally accepted survey classs. It was observed most pupils at ICBT surveies Edexcel HND ââ¬Ës, & A ; ICBT is most popular in presenting HND ââ¬Ës as ICBT was awarded by Edexcel International ( The Sunday Times, 1996 ââ¬â 2011 ) as the taking centre for Edexcel HND ââ¬Ës in Sri Lanka However recent observation showed pupils analyzing Edexcel HND concern direction shows mean hapless attendence & A ; promptness, & A ; neglect to subject assignments on due day of the months ensuing in late entries & A ; non subjecting assignments. The chief ground identified for pupils inability to subject assignments on clip & A ; hapless promptness, was pupils hapless clip managemnt accomplishments. Symptoms identified through detecting pupils which led me to look into these job was pupils classs achived, on mean pupils hapless attendence, hapless promptness, pupils ailments on capable affairs, pupils non verbal looks such as demoing less involvement & A ; concentration towards lectures, drowsiness, negative attitude towards lectures, speaking with friends while talks are being conducted within the category room, etcaÃâ à ¦ The imporatance of placing & A ; happening a sollution to these job was recognized upon placing the negative effects it could hold upon all cardinal stakeholders involved such as pupils, parents, lectors & A ; the institute & A ; the benefits it could convey to the mentioned stakeholders as discussed below. Improved pupils clip mangemnt accomplishments, will increase pupils ability to subject assignemnts on clip, which could be a criteria taking to achive high classs, cut down both emphasis degrees & A ; enable pupils to finish the HND ââ¬Ës within the clip frame of 18 months, avoid extra payments required on on late extention & A ; remodules of assignments. Further more achiving high classs would increse pupils knowledge & amp ; accomplishments degrees, which would profit in deriving & A ; constructing nucleus competences neccessry when come ining the occupation market. Besides happening a sollution to better pupils clip mangement accomplishments, would increase pupils pattern & A ; ability to mange clip efficaciously, expeditiously under presure of work while in the university, which could be extremely belived would be utile in their calling life as clip mangemnt is considerd as a critical interpersonal accomplishment in todays concern universe. Further if schemes are non implimentd to better pupils clip mangemnt accomplishments it would do it impossible for ICBT to make its mission & A ; vission as identified in figure:2 in appendix, as ICBT ââ¬Ës mission of enahancing quality of human resources available to the market, would be negatively effected as pupils hapless classs, hapless clip direction accomplishments, hapless promptness, etcaÃâ à ¦ would non ensue in an increse of qulity human resource available to the occupation market in the hereafter, & A ; it would non enable ICBT to make its vision, since hapless public presentation of pupils would consequence ICBT ââ¬Ës repute & A ; acknowledgment in both the local & A ; international market negatively, impacting both international & A ; local market growing negatively. Besides if this consequences in an continuance, there is an high possibility that ICBT ââ¬Ës quality of instruction & A ; repute in the private higher instruction could be adversly effected, ens uing in ICBT ââ¬Ës repute recognized by Edexcel International as discussed above to detoriate. Students ability to mange clip effcetively is a critical factor that could consequence a kid ability to run into parents ends & A ; hopes, such as seing childeren go throughing tests with good classs on planned clip frame & A ; being extremely educated, holding a good calling & A ; a work life balance. Further good clip mangemnent accomplishments would ensue in non necessitating to pay any extra payments to the college on late entry or re-modules ensuing in less fiscal load upon parents. Addition in pupils clip mangement accomplishments would increase pupils ability to subject assignments on clip, & A ; this would enable the lectors to finish look intoing the whole batches assignments on a perticular twenty-four hours, without the demand of transporting frontward any due cheques, seting extra presure & A ; burden upon them. Further effectual clip mangemnt plays a major function upon pupils ability to achive a Distinction standard & A ; other good classs, which could be a motivative factor for lectors & A ; act as cogent evidence of lectors high public presentation. As job was identified ICBT City campus Edexcel HND concern direction pupils, country of influence or the range of the survey was identified as the aggregation of all the current registerd Edexcel HND Business Managemnt pupils at ICBT City campus. As identified & amp ; discusssed above how pupils hapless clip managemnt accomplishments effects pupils & A ; other nucleus stakeholders such as parents, lectors, & A ; the institute, the importance of happening a sollution for these job was highlighted & amp ; by doong so it would non merely fullfil the cognition spread, but besides bring monolithic benefits to all the cardinal satkeholders as discussed below.Research ProblemWhy ICBT City campus Edexcel HND Business Managemnt pupils are inefficient in their clip mangemnt?Research QuestionsWhat is clip managemnt? What is efficiency & A ; effectiveness? What is effetive clip managemnt? What are the factors act uponing effectual clip managemnt of pupils?Research AimsTo place what is clip managemnt To place what is effciency & A ; effectiveness and why it is of import to pupils To place what is effectual clip managemnt To place factors set uping effectual clip managemnt of pupilsLiterature ReviewTime direction involves equilibrating all the activities in which a individual participates within the confines of the hebdomad ( Canyons, 2001-2012 ) . Efficiency & A ; effectiveness plays a critical function towards finding an persons ability to equilibrate & amp ; pull off all activities of a perticular clip period. Efficiency is where clip or attempt is good used for a planned undertaking & A ; efectiveness is making the right thing. Therefore effectual clip direction could be considerd as an persons ability to guarantee right things are done at the right clip, while guaranting clip & A ; attempt is good used for the planned undertaking. However factors set uping clip managemnt accomplishments of an person is discussed below. A survey done to happen the relatinship between, hold & A ; the deficiency of ability to put day-to-day modus operandis associated to academic activities ( Dietz, Hofer & A ; French friess, 2007 ) suggested that pupils be aftering is of import to forestall holds in academic work, while Drucker in 1967 recognized that planning activities & A ; undertaking does non ever guarantee completion of planned work, specially when clip presure is high. However a survey done by Gerhard in twelvemonth 2007, showed that pupil planning is merely one factor among several other factors that could consequence clip mangement, through consequences observed by both pre & A ; post preparation accomplishments observed, which focused on four criterias such as self assesment, end scene, clip mangement & A ; self ordinance, which was capable to demo a major addition or betterment in between pupils pre & amp ; station ego managemnt accomplishments. Harmonizing to Sandberg in twelvemonth 2001, stated that effectual use of clip would assist to achive ends as planned, & A ; it is the art of arrangement, organizing, programming, & A ; budgeting 1s clip for the intent is the factors that influence effectual work & A ; productiveness. Obi in twelvemonth 2003 stated that clip mangemnt involves accurately identifying undertakings to be performed, be aftering & A ; programming of activities, prioritisng activities in order, & A ; apportioning clip to tasks harmonizing to the grade of imporatane that enhances productiveness. Olaniyi in 1998 & A ; Akomolafe in 2005 argued that, there is nil to mange in clip as clip is beyond human control, & A ; what persons are capable to make is to make up one's mind what to make with the available clip & A ; how good to form activities within the available clip frame. Adedeji in twelvemonth 1998 besides came up with a strong & A ; similar statement that supports, Olaniyi ââ¬Ës & A ; Akomolafe ââ¬Ës findings, where he sead clip is an panics resource & amp ; use of clip could be achived by making the right thing at the right clip. A survey done among university pupils in the United provinces ( Macan, et Al, 1990 ) identified a four factor theoretical account which effects pupils clip managemnt accomplishments & A ; they were puting ends and precedences, planning and programming, perceived control over clip, and penchant for disorganization. Out of the four factors perceived control over clip had shown the strongest part to pupils academic and emotional accommodation. Further Macan ââ¬Ës designation that end scene could infleunce clip managemnt was besides surported by Richards in 1987 where Richards ââ¬Ës concluded that puting life ends & A ; maintaining clip logs were of import techniques for effectual clip managemnt. McCay in 1959 developed a construct for clip direction preparation programme, where the critical elements highlighted in it were, giving penetration into clip devouring activities, altering clip outgo, & A ; increasing work twenty-four hours efficiency by learning people how to do day-to-day planning, how to prioritize undertaking & A ; how to manage unexpected undertakings. A survey done by Britton & A ; Tesser in 1991, had identified that 67 % of undergraduate pupils find clip managemnt as the most hard undertaking to pull off & amp ; 36 % varience among the classs werte due to clip mangemnt accomplishments. This farther high spots & A ; proves the importance of happening why and how clip mangemnt accomplishments could be improved among ICBT City campus HND Business managemnt pupils. Figure: Conceptual Model Planing & A ; forming accomplishments Time direction Prioritizing accomplishments Gaol puting accomplishments Alternate Hypothesis identified Students planning, forming & A ; prioritizing & A ; end puting accomplishments effects clip direction Planing & A ; forming accomplishments is ââ¬Å" the ability to pull off self and/or others, and resources including clip and environing fortunes to make a specific end â⬠( University of Strathclyde Glasgow, n.d ) Prioritizing accomplishments is the ability to ââ¬Å" specify, rank, and assign degrees of importance to undertakings, activities, and/or issues and cover with affairs of higher importance foremost. Make a list of points in order in which they need to be completed or delegated. Align forces and other resources harmonizing to precedence while keeping organisational mission, vision, and aims. Determine affairs of urgency and manage consequently â⬠( Selection standards illustrations, 2012 ) Goal scene is the ability of an person to ââ¬Å" set uping specific, mensurable and clip targeted aims â⬠( Objectiveli, 2012 ) Time direction is ââ¬Å" a set of rules, patterns, accomplishments, tools, and systems working together to assist you acquire more value out of your clip with the purpose of bettering the quality of your life â⬠( Time ideas, 2004 ââ¬â 2011 ) , & A ; clip direction accomplishment of an single depends upon the persons be aftering & A ; forming, prioritizing & A ; end puting accomplishments.MethodologyThe sampling frame would be derived from the current ICBT metropolis campus HND Business direction pupil ââ¬Ës registries, available from the programme organizing office, which would give a complete list of all pupils registered for the class under each batch. Out of the sampling frame, a pupil sample would be obtained in order to carry on the research. However, HND Business direction batch 38 & A ; 46 would be excluded from, the study as batch 38 has already completed the HND & A ; merely expecting for the finalised consequences & A ; batch 46 would be excluded, as the batch is the freshest HND Business direction batch, which has started on the 2nd hebdomad of September 2012, & A ; would non enable to derive needed information. In order to avoid the sampling mistake survey would be done to place the most suited trying method to be adopted & amp ; a larger sample size would be considered in the study, than the sample size demand calculated through the sample size reckoner. Animals are happier in zoos
Animals are happier in zoos then in the wild. This truth about animals eludes the public, and consequently, has caused society to develop a negative attitude towards wild life in captivity. First, animals lack the freedom of time, space, and personal relations in the wild. Second, they crave routine, which can easily be provided in a captive environment with well-trained staff. Third, animals are very territorial. They will live with the mindset, ââ¬Å"there is no place like homeâ⬠, and thus, will ultimately love the habitat provided for them. The fog draped over people regarding animals living in zoos will be lifted through the analysis of these three examples. Many people have an image that wild animals are ââ¬Å"happy, and ââ¬Å"freeâ⬠. However, contrary to popular belief, an animal in the wild leads a life of compulsion and necessity. In addition, they live in an environment where the supply of fear is high, the supply of food is low, and in a world where territory must constantly be defended. There is no meaningful freedom in this context, thus, animals in the wild are neither free in time, space, or personal relations. Truthfully, animals are creatures of habit, and are obsessive in many ways. They get set in their ways, and despise anything out of their ordinary structured lives. In their natural environment, they stick to the same routine season after season. This is no different than an animal kept in captivity. For example, in a zoo, if an animal is not in its normal place, in its regular posture, at the usual hour, it means something. The reason for such an event could be something as simple as a puddle, left from a previous night of rain that interferes with the animalââ¬â¢s ability to be where it wants to be. These routines and behaviors can easily be monitored and dealt with by zoo staff that knows exactly what they are doing. There are an exorbitant amount of people who also imagine that animals simply get up, leave their homes, and explore the wild, ignoring all social conventions and boundaries attributed to their species. However, this is an event less likely to occur than one where a person of sound mind, one day decided he was going to roam the earth alone, with nothing but the clothes on his back, and the spare change in his pocket. Animals are very territorial. They become accustomed to their surroundings, and without a shadow of a doubt, truly believe, ââ¬Å"there is no place like homeâ⬠. For example, Leopards are capable of jumping 18ft in the air. Leopards kept at a zoo in Pondicherry India, lived contently, and happily in captivity with fences 16ft high. The key to creating this mind set in a zoo is to know the personalities of each species, and to understand how they operate within their natural habitat. If this is done properly, animals will be satisfied, they will be able to relax, and we will all have the opportunity to sit back and have a look at one another. The reality about animals living in captivity is far from what society has been led to believe. The three examples above analyze first, that animals lack freedom in the wilderness. Second, that animals rely on routine. Last, animals are very territorial, concluding, that animals are happier in zoos then in the wild.
Good Parenting for Single-parents Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Good Parenting for Single-parents - Essay Example Most apply to all parents, while a couple will help the single parent more. I have chosen 4 of the guidelines to discuss in this paper based on my experience with my parents. They are: set fair ground rules and discipline with love, be positive, give the child responsibility commensurate with maturity levels, and be a good role model. As a parent, I find these guidelines to be very helpful in parenting my own children. . Our household had a set of rules that were strong as iron. An infraction, or breaking of one of these rules was akin to a slap in the face. The rules were elegant in their simplicity. #1 Respect - above all else. Each person in the household was entitled to respect as a person. Our parents respected our opinions, and listened to what we had to say as long as it was in a correct tone of voice and in turn, we respected our parents because they seemed less dictators than guides. #2 Work hard, and work together. This meant if there was a job to be done, we were all to assist in completing it. Mom might have assigned individual tasks to us, but it was based on who was available at the moment, not whoââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"job it wasâ⬠. Often, we were all working on different tasks at the same time in order to ensure everything got done in the least amount of time. These two simple rules governed our daily lives, and it worked to bring easy harmony.

About chemistry Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
About chemistry - Essay Example This paper discusses the role of chemistry in wine making, particularly the chemical components carbohydrates and organic acids. The effect of temperature in the process of wine making will also be discussed. CARBOHYDRATES . Sugars are a sub-class of carbohydrates. This molecules take the biggest role in the fermentation process because they are ones that turn into alcohol. Fructose and glucose are the sugars that are most important in wine making. There are sugars such as pentoses and pectins that are present in the juice that does not really contribute to the fermentation process, but gives the wine its hazy characteristics (New Zealand Institute of Chemistry, n.d.). ORGANIC ACIDS. Tartaric acid and malic acid are two of the principal acids found in grapes, and they are important molecules in grapes because they provide the acidity of the wine. The acids provide a pH range of about 3.2 - 3.3, which serves as a buffer system. Succinic acid is present in wine but not in the grape juice which implies that its formation occurs during the fermentation process. It is important that the acidity during wine making is at its optimum level to provide the best condition for fermentation. Because yeasts are living microorganisms, they are supposed to live at their most natural environment to be able to thrive well and properly work on the sugars in the juices. Grapes which are too sweet have high pH values resulting to less subtle wine flavors. To prevent this, pH of the juice prior to fermentation is checked, and if found to be high, tartaric acid is added before loading up the yeast (Uva, 2013). TEMPERATURE. The temperature requirement in the manufacture of wine must not exceed 15.3Ã ºC (60Ã ºF) for white wines, and 29.4Ã ºC (85Ã ºF) for red wines. The conversion from sugar to alcohol with the evolution of carbon dioxide releases heat, so it is important that the temperature be always maintained. Low

JURISPRUDENCE LAW Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
JURISPRUDENCE LAW - Essay Example Itââ¬â¢s in here where he also points to this thoughtful philosophy of ââ¬Å"where there is no common power, there is no law: where no law, no injustice.â⬠Generally speaking this statement is a conclusion that can be drawn from the analysis of his two theory ââ¬Å"state of natureâ⬠and ââ¬Å"social contractâ⬠. This statement means that individuals are equal in all respect. The nature has made them this way that one cannot overpower the other, thus none of them is mighty enough to stand tall out of the mass and declare a certain code of conduct or ââ¬Å"lawâ⬠. Since there is nothing called law and there is nothing to distinguish right from wrong, everything which men did was right from his subjective opinion and hence no injustice could be done while a man does what he knows not be wrong. Thus in this situation of equality, a mutual consenting common power has to be established to make up law determining a common definition of right and wrong and thus estab lishing a system of justice and injustice. However such concepts of justice, injustice, redressal, damage, right and wrong have no meaning unless there is a proper machinery to define them and implement them. Now in the mass where no one is mightier enough to impose its might, such an institution has to be made by mutual consent of equal forces. Therefore a common power is needed to make law. This statement determines perfectly Hobbes idea on what the state of nature. According to Hobbes, in the state of nature there is no common power and men are at constant war with each other.à In the absence of any common power to awe them all they are in a state of isolation. There is no force, no obligation and no rule to bind them together to follow some discipline and thus there is absolutely no concept of the idea of society and most importantly there is no law. Law is something that is imposed upon people by a government and in the state of

Homework - Assignment Example This kind of reaction causes a friction that helps in the transformation of the existing rocks to form the amorphous rock (Press, F., R. Siever, J. Grotzinger & T. H. Jordan, 2003). However, a series of researches have also reported that the amorphous rocks can result from other processes like magma, very hot sediment that may come as a result of earth movements like volcanic eruptions. After their sedimentation and subsequent cooling, the amorphous rock is formed. Actually, for this rock to be used in construction process, it must be specially prepared through a series of processes. First, an appropriate mining method is used before it is taken to the industry to be given a series of chemical treatment where it will be given color, shape, texture and be put in the right shape to be used in construction. For instance, being that it can be used in making the bathroom tiles means that it should be accorded a kind of finishinthat will make it be so smooth and shiny. The type of igneous rock used in the construction of houses is the granite. It is just because it posses the right qualities necessary for the building and construction of various parts of a building structure (Press, F., R. Siever, J. Grotzinger & T. H. Jordan, 2003). According to the geological researches, the igneous rock is formed through a process of cooling and solidification of lava or magma. The magma undergoes a crystallization process either intrusively or extrinsively. In this case, the intrinsic crystallization occurs when the process occurs underneath the surface of the earth. On the other hand, extrinsic crystallization occurs on the surface of the earth mainly from volcanic eruptions. In order to process the materials from this rock, an appropriate mining method is used before it is taken to the industry to be given a series of chemical treatment where it will be given color, shape, texture and be put in the right shape to be used in

Feudalism and the Manorial System Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Feudalism and the Manorial System - Essay Example Manorial system was social and economic system in medieval Europe. The system regulated peasant land tenure and production, administered taxation and local justice. There is a close relationship between the manorial system and feudalism. In both cases, regulation of land tenure featured as a major factor that influenced production of the nation. The difference of the systems is the political and military aspect. In medieval Europe, feudalism and manorial system defined the structure of governance. In the feudal system, the king leased land to his immediate juniors in the monarchial hierarchy. The king gave them vast stretches of land. The people receiving land from the king were vassals. They managed the land under their control. The system was a form of exchange of services. In return, the king gained loyalty and war troops from the vassals. The vassals had a responsibility of working as knights. This included serving in castles and undertaking training for forty days. When the king waged war, the vassals were to fight for the king with all loyalty. Other returns to the king from the vassals were financial support and hosting of the kingââ¬â¢s entourage during tours. When feudalism arose in Europe, it involved the exchange of weapons and other items. When Europe entered the agrarian period, then land was included in the feudal system. The barons further divided their land and leased it under the same conditions. Feudalism involving land formed the manorial system. Landowners hired peasants to work in the farms. The peasants earned a source of living from this. Other peasants practiced different forms of art on the small plots of land and paid taxes in return to the landowner. The manorial system led to the formation of a noble class. Landowners formed the noble class while peasants were commoners. The difference in social status explains how each of the groups lived. The rich landowners treated the peasants as slaves. The life of the peasants depended on th e landowners. In the hierarchy, the landowners had a responsibility of providing the king with war troops. The taxation and local justice system depended on each baron. Some of the barons overtaxed the peasants working on the fiefs (Spielvogel 358). Feudalism and the manorial system were distinct systems. However, sometimes barons gained land ownership through feudal grants. The highest order, the king leased land to the barons. Marriage and inheritance are the other pathways through which barons received land. The manorial system served to sustain the medieval Europe economically. Manors had the potential to produce enough for consumption and the surplus directed to the market. The medieval European society consisted of manorial villages. There was exchange of goods between the villages. Contribution of the Christian Faith in Renaissance Though perceived differently, the Renaissance in a general sense may be looked upon as the achievement of present spirit in opposition the spirit and faith that existed during the middle age. In the progression of western civilization, there was a period defined by disease, death, and waging war. During this period, there were little advances made in technology. People were less interested in literary works. However, the era that followed was different. People had a lot of interest in literary works, philosophy, and understanding of nature. The power of manââ¬â¢

Questions - Essay Example Claims made by Matthew are geared towards the Jews to whom Jesus had come to set free by returning them back to their creator. Through connecting Jesus with King David, Matthew was trying to make his message more appealing to the Jews since they were well informed about the courageous acts of King David and how he was able to unite the entire nation of Israel and to bring peace to it. So the people were to believe that Jesus was to do the same although his approach was to be more spiritual than physical. On the other hand, John seeks to affirm the fact the fact that Jesus was God and was part of the trinity. Jesus was not just the messiah but he was God and this is demonstrated by John through the miracles that he performed such as changing water into wine, walking on water, raising the dead and healing many sick people. The claims of John were not just meant to be for the Jews but for the whole human race to whom Jesus being God had created and cared about (Neville,
Campbell Soup Essay Example for Free
Campbell Soup Essay Campbell Soup Company (CSC) was a diversified food processor known for its strong brands and product quality. One of its products is produce ready-to-serve soups for customer who is not able to make soup. Formerly, Campbells products spread all over 3 segments of condensed soups, ready-to-serve soups and dry soup, and it is considering to expand its product to microwavable soups to make customer more convenient for preparing soup without container. The following figure showed the foundation of CSC. CSC used its engineering support and diversified production line to support customers with convenient, good taste and quality food. CSC is a decentralized company; its strategy is to diversify its business to product several products, and expand its marketing share. Something behind the diversified production line, used to support its operating system, is its CIRT and CCID department. Those are charged with process RD, product development, packaging and engineering systems. CSC used production line for its operating system. The advantage of it is to reduce WIP among the process, and it required high quality and stable operating system to avoid the unexpected shut down. Symptom CSC is developing a new product of microwavable soup, which is assigned to Plastigon line in the early 1980s. However, the Plastigon line is taking so long for result. Because of this, Elsner was assigned to resolve Plastigons technical problems and make Campbells engineering more effective and efficient. Problem 1.Conflict between organization and development process From the current CSCs product development process of task forces, we know CSC would appoint the appropriate engineer from any department in charge of the new process. The advantage of this way is more flexible and superior because everyone has the suitable skill in charge of the new process.à However, there is no clear assignment of who is responsible to run this project team. That caused nobody took it to be their obligation, they actually wanted less and less to be involved. Their position was, Wait until its a proven process and then CSC will be ready to accept the line for their operation. Otherwise, coordination between engineers form various groups was difficult because often the engineers were not at the plant at the same time. Even when some were present, they had their own tests to run and not usually were not interested in running the line as a whole. This situation caused the other problem that the problem of the other part of production line would occur when the problem of one part was resolved due to incoordination among all parts. 2.Production process As we know, the production process which CSC used is production line, which can be described the products are manufacturing as a continuous flow. Production line requires standard and stable process with good quality to avoid occurring shut-down. If one part was shut-down, that would influence other parts. Suggestion Aiming at conflict between organization and development process, the problem is due to the structure of organization is different from development process. The organization is decentralized, but RD is centralized. However, because different product has different feature, RD should have different knowledge and experiment in charge in different product. For example, microwavable soup can be used by microwave, so it requires different material, and RD has to consider the different point and set up a suitable process for it. At this point, I suggest CSC decentralizes its RD into different product. When CSC decides to produce a new product, they should take appropriate engineers from RD, and make a subgroup for the new product. After that, set up a pilot for this group who is responsible for this production line, and integrate whole engineers. Engineers have different expertise in their area, so how to coordinate them to devote theirà knowledge to this production line is also a crucial point. The duty of the pilot is to lead this group and responsible for proving this process. Using this way, the subgroup has to transfer to the new plant, which would reduce the transit times by using centralization. Furthermore, engineers would run their part at the same time, which would improve the efficiency of the process. Second, CSC used production line for its process; however, it would make whole process shut-down if any part was in trouble. Otherwise, the most parts of this process are made by human resources. The efficiency of each person decides the efficiency of whole process. If workers have different efficiency, that would cause the process not continuous. It means idol time would occur between each part. To resolve this problem, I suggest CSC change its process from production line to job-shop. Although job-shop would produce more WIP, the influence would be reduced by using this way, and the process would not entirely shut down. That makes the whole process produce smoothly, and standard. Furthermore, aiming at the point of the most parts of this process is made by human resources. I suggest CSC should prepare Quality System Document and on-the-job training program with handbook which can help workers to familiar with whole process and operation soon. If training program and handbook are more detailed, workers are easy to find answers from them for their questions without the instruction of supervisor, and help them become skillful operators.

Inter-personal skills Essay Example for Free
Inter-personal skills Essay Kaiserââ¬â¢s main problem is the lack of sufficient supervision of teams. In order to better the system, they need to address the problems involving all their cross-functional teams. With a large number of patients dying due to pneumonia and post-kidney problems, the focus needs to be on creating teams, of a suitable team size, who are given sufficient decision-making power based on their leadership abilities and inter-personal skills. They should take the help of patient-centered teams to help them out and streamline the process of healthcare to improve the efficiency of the system. The goal is not to increase the performance of the team and the individual players who work at their hospitals. The main goal has to be reducing the chances of infection and improve the functioning of the hospital to ensure the patients are given the best possible care and support that the healthcare system can provide them. The members need to develop inter-personal skills that will help them work together as a team. Their problem is not a sufficient lack of knowledge, but their problem is not being responsible enough for the decisions they make. Every employee is a part of a cross-functional team and they need to emerge as leaders as and when the situation asks for it. For now, their priority is to reduce the number of patient deaths in their network of hospitals. The choice of answers below clearly supports my rationale and perspective of the case study in question as part of this assignment.

Déjàvu: The Past in the Present :: Psychology Psychic Essays
Dà ©jà vu: The Past in the Present "...parapsychologists think dà ©jà vu is a glimpse into a past-life. The event did happen similarly before, you just happened to die between the occurrences." (2) The mysterious nature of dà ©jà vu does not only lie in the experience itself, but in its definition. The sole unity of truth is the direct French translation - 'already seen.' In general, the phenomena can be summed up as experiencing the past in the present. It is "an uncanny feeling or illusion of having already seen or experienced something that is being experienced for the first time." (3) The dà ©jà vu experience is puzzling because it often leaves people disoriented and searching for explanations. In fact, it is a fairly common occurrence with 70% (a higher rate is reported between the ages of 15 and 25) of the population reporting that they have felt dà ©jà vu at some point in their lives. (2) The frequency of the experience has left specialists scrounging for information. There is an evident absence of truth, as expressed through varying opinions from psychologists, scientists, neurobiologists and spiritual healers. The nature? The cause? No one seems to be point ing to a definite answer. Some widely discussed causes appear to point to the brain's temporal lobes, past memory, wish fulfillment or temporarily mismatched connections in the brain. Emile Borac who was greatly interested in psychic phenomena first utilized the term dà ©jà vu. (3) The connotation used refers to the past, while the nature of the experience is clearly positioned in the present reality. It is ambiguities such as these that spark debate over the nature of the actual dà ©jà vu experience. Hence several definitions of dà ©jà vu have arose, all emphasizing different aspects of the experience. Arthur Funkhouser, Ph.D. and Vernon Neppe, M.D., Ph. D. have performed extensive research on the various types of dà ©jà vu. Funkhouser seeks to clarify dà ©jà vu and remove it from inaccurate associations. He claims that there are three forms of dà ©jà vu: dà ©jà vecu, dà ©jà senti, and dà ©jà visite. Dà ©jà vecu is most similar to the widely acknowledged definition of dà ©jà vu. It is the feeling that the present scenario has been experienced in the past - the details are identical and it is possible to predict what will happen next. While in the midst of dà ©jà vecu, the detail of the experience is astounding, and the person is conscious that the present scenario conforms to their memory of it.
The Capulet Family in William Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet :: Romeo and Juliet Essays
The Capulet Family in Romeo and Juliet The Capulet family is one of pride and high social standing. It consists of Lord and Lady Capulet, their young daughter Juliet, and their kinsman Tybalt. They have a nurse, as well, who has taken care if Juliet since she was born. They get along quite well, yet, like all families they have their differences. However, one thing that happens frequently when two members of the family disagree on something, is that usually someone gives in to their " superior," regardless if they agree or not. One example is when Romeo shows up at the Capulets' party uninvited and Tybalt wants to throw him out. Lord Capulet objects to this by saying, "He shall be endured...I say he shall...Am I the master here or you?" For a little bit, Tybalt argues, but he very soon backs down and lets Capulet have his way. Perhaps the reason why this happens is because the "inferior" person is somewhat intimidated by the "superior." This intimidation that some of the characters produce on each other shows that there is not a great deal of communication in the family. Throughout Act I, there were several more examples of characters yielding to others and not standing up for what they believe. For instance, when Lady Capulet brought up the idea of Juliet marrying Paris, Juliet just went along with the concept , even though that was possibly not what she wanted. An even more significant instance of such a thing occurring is the fact that Juliet feared to tell her parents that she had fallen in love with Romeo, a Montague. She knew that if she informed them of how she felt, they would get angry and maybe disown her, just because of their hate for all Montagues. That is another of the Capulet family's flaws. They are rather narrow-minded because of their continuing, senseless conflict with the Montagues. Both households are of equal fault in this case, but that only proves that the two families are alike in that way. Even still, if the Capulets believe that they truly are the more dignified, they should have ceased their dispute earlier and prevented their daughter's unhappiness (and eventually death).

Show Boat :: essays research papers
There were many characters in the story of Show Boat. In the beginning we met Captain Andy Hawks and his wife Parthy Anne. Andy was the caption of the Cotton Blossom. They had one daughter and her name was Magnolia. The purpose of Andy and Parthy Anne is to add comedy and conflict in the story. They fought a lot and it was very humorous, and it seemed as if they both stood on opposite sides when it came to raising their daughter. Magnolia was probably the star of the musical. She tied in to almost everyone in the story. à à à à à Later on, Magnolia married Gaylord Rayenal. He is a gambler and gives Magnolia a good life for a while. His purpose in the story was to add the romance, and to also add conflict. They eventually have a daughter named Kim. à à à à à In the beginning we also met a girl named Julie LaVerne. She was married to a man named Steve Baker. Julie was also Magnoliaââ¬â¢s piano teacher. We also met a ââ¬Å"friendâ⬠of Julieââ¬â¢s named Pete Gavin. Pete had obviously been involved (probably not romantically) with Julie before Show Boat started. The purpose of those two was to tell of racial issues during that time. à à à à à There were also two characters in the beginning named Frank Shultz and Ellie May Chipley. They were the comedians on board. They were there for mostly comedyâ⬠¦. and also irony. They are the ones who met Magnolia in Chicago. It was also very ironic how they finally got married and adopted a son who turned out to be very talented. à à à à à Joe and Queenie were two of the black characters on the boat. They were married. I think the reason they were there was to show the segregation between whites and blacks in those days. Joe would also sing a song called ââ¬Å"Old Man Riverâ⬠that stood for the passing of time.

Unlike unhealthy food, healthy food is obviously better for you and your health. people who eat healthy foods tend to have the ability and the energy to do hard work. When someone eats food that is rich in vitamins, proteins, iron and other important nutrients, they will be free from diseases and obesity. For children healthy food is necessary for proper growth and development. Parents can provide a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthy proteins to make sure that their child get the right nutrients that they need to maintain a balanced diet. Although people believe that they are saving money by getting ââ¬Å"junk foodâ⬠, they are actually wasting money. In an article written by the New York Times, Is Junk Food Really Cheaper? it states that for ââ¬Å"a typical order for a family of fourâ⬠¦ costs, at the McDonaldââ¬â¢s, about $28. â⬠where as a healthy meal at home costsââ¬Å"$14, and feed four or even six people. â⬠Therefore it is actually cheaper to eat a well balanced meal at home, rather than a stop by the local fast food restaurant. Both junk food and Healthy food can be appetizing to your tastebuds but the clear choice to digest into your body is healthy food. Children and adults will benefit plenty by eating the right balanced foods and maintain a healthy living.

The akin definitions besides rig the next phases shape the woful plan, create the migration committee and define its scope, get an approved cost migra tion calculate (first ninety days), acquire a lease line (T1), and implement WAN gene linkage surrounded by the corporate headquarters and the China hub (subsequent dickens hundred s levelty days). author the first and continuing until the third year, the sideline(a) ordain be developed parley logistics, surveying prospective locations in Shanghai, be after to stick out correspond Information Systems, cooking for an IT cater recruiting process, ensuring business continuity, prior(prenominal)itizing the particularity of to each one(prenominal) incision and master of ceremonies, analyzing legal relocation anaesthetizes and draught a small town plan, and setting the shipping logistics. From the third through the fifth year, the following m grizzlyiness be accomplished estimate of the hot locations alkali (by March 2011), faculty recruiting for the Shanghai location, resolution of most legal issues, ensuring business continuity, and choice of the pilot interlo ck workgroup which go away be migrated first. In fact, the IT department is much likely to see an increase in the number of calls for support during the unlike phases of the relocation. The potential for increased call flock could result from one or to a greater extent factors such as a movement related to the move, connectivity issues receivable to the move, or even the perception that the move has caused a problem, when it is non even related to the move. When considering the effects on the IT departments workload, management must consider both direct and validating causes that may increase the workload demands. every(prenominal) department that allow for be relocating to the stark naked facility volition invariably require assistance from the IT department. The needs may be minor or significant, provided if non anticipated, these distractions detract from the goal (to relocate) and affect the budgeted repel unavoidable for the move. In order to cater the best possible continuity of service in the first place, during, and after the move, it is necessary to evaluate each departments needs and the relationships between each department to provide utmost support. For the first year goals, the IT department pass on evaluate each supported department to visit the above factors in an effort to establish an estimated amount of labor required for each department. This survey get out also help to establish the most consistent path to pursue when transitioningeach department to the fresh location. Timing is a crit ical element in the transition. It may make more than sense to move current departments in phases, and other departments at one time or the big stunner approach. For example, it may be wise to move the payroll/hr department all at once as you would inadequacy to fix all the records at one location and available to that department. Since this area houses polished information, it would be wiser to move everything at the same time in order to more easily track and secure the data since it provide be confined to one location.A final factor to consider is the very real potential for a significant turnover rate across all departments collect to the new site being a considerable outstrip from the existing site. This high turnover rate will result in less experienced employees these employees usually require more assistance from the IT department than seasoned employees do. A physical move may ignite business, but a robust and gleam business continuity plan should concede the business to proceed as everyday with minimal disruptions. An analysis of all risks will need to be performed as well as plans to mitigate these risks should the circumstances arise. forward one can turn back a successful business continuity plan, a test must be run to work out any idiosyncrasies or items that may not waste been considered. An in-depth analysis identified several immediate risks. Since the volume of the current IT military group will be relocating to Shanghai, a plan will be in place to account for the temporal IT personnel department shortage. Approximately half dozensome weeks prior to the move, the remaining staff members, from the Hangzhou office, will be known. It is estimated that 1/3 of the current staff will remain. in one causal agency this number has been finalized, hiring will slide by to backfill these positions. While approximately 2/3 of the staff will be preparing for the move, the remaining 1/3 will be conducting training for the new staff. another(prenominal) identified risk was equipment failure due to damage during shipping or because of indecorous reconfiguration. Members of the existing staff will short-circuit an on-call position for the first month. This will placate performance problems due to configuration. If the equipment failure is due to damaged hardware, two vendors will support been pre-determined to contact for service or heir parts. To minimize issues with equipment delivery, several confirmations with the shipping ships company will be completed.Portions of the hardware will be shipped separately. For example, the QA equipment will be shipped first, followed by the finance equipment, etc. Gradually despicable components will throw in each individualize system to stabilize itself. In order to safeguard data and information assets, two identical waiters will be used. wholeness housed in the new location will be a mirror of the original. erstwhile it can be determined that the databases and in formation can be used from the mirror server, the original will be disconnect and subsequently destroyed. One way to en confident(predicate) a successful business convalescence plan is to test it. While in the current location, a dry run will be performed. Throughout the week, several staged, but undisclosed failures will occur which will allow the business convalescence plan to be challenged. Problems such as an unavailable database, slow response time and faulty hardware will be orchestrated to mimic the anticipated response. Once this testing is complete, department coordinators will advertize written document ways to combat the lessons learned. When the time arrives to begin the physical move, some additional steps will be taken to ease the transition. First, the department coordinator will be migrated the procedure changes, issues, resolutions, etc. will be documented. Second, migration activities and estimated time spent on each activity will be active so that users know what to expect onwards demonstrable migration. Sufficient time will be allocated on each migrated employees calendar and expectations will be set.The actual migration will happen in stages, one-third groups will be identified by the department co-coordinator based on system, application, or function criticality. Less critical groups will be moved first, followed by morecritical, and thereafter by the most critical. separately employees backup will be identified. When an employee is moved, his backup would still be work from old location to cover for him. We will wait for at least two weeks of stable work from the employee at the new location before removing the backup employee. This will provide redundancy in case there are some issues at the new location tasks can still be performed by the backup until those issues get obstinate.Arrangements will be made with the current shipping company to accommodate our new shipping logistics. If the current shipping company is unable to do so, a second-stringer shipping company will be used. Each department coordinator will be assigned the task of making accreditedly all disaster recovery documents are with-it and existing business recovery measures are intact prior to the move. The test exercise will bring to light any inconsistencies in these documents. Enhancements will be integrated into the existing document. The business continuity plan (BCP) is a living document which needs to be kept up-to-date to ensure its effectiveness. It should be updated at least once every quarter. Another important aspect of the BCP is auditing. It should be tested at least once every six months to ensure its validity. At anytime, there should except be one document with all of the changes and updates. If the document is well constructed the organization should be able to use external resources that do not have intrinsic intimacy of your current network to recover your system. This can only be achieved once the BCP document ha s matured and it is recommended to attempt such a recovery (Magalhaes, 2005).The IT Departments usance During the MoveThe IT department must continue supporting all the departments, groups, and systems at same level as that provided prior to the move, including but not limited to the following practical application developmentTesting and Quality impudenceHelp DeskMessaging or e-mailAsset management (hardware and software)System Administrators, earnings supportSystem bailIT Planning, prep current and new staff as neededProviding maintenance to the current and new IT infrastructureSpecific Milestones for divisions One, ternion and FiveThere are 250 users at Hangzhou, China. As far as system hardware, most of the IT related systems become antiquated in five years. This is the very designer that most companies lease their hardware equipment. The surmisal is being made that Riordan Manufacturing leases equipment and will have six months of parallel systems. Hence, for the durat ion of six months, Riordan can keep the old as well as the new systems. The company will lease the system at the new location and retire the system at the old location. This approach will save moving costs and allow a six-month period to make sure the new system is stable before retiring the old system. Running the old and new systems in parallel facilitates a back-out plan in case we have to revert to the old system in a worst-case scenario. This also helps with system approachability and business continuity planning as discussed in the beginning of the migration plan. The project scope will be determined by identifying all the servers, personal computers (PCs), networking systems, and other infrastructure componentsthat need to be moved. The hardware stock of the items in Hangzhou is listed belowSatellite base station, connection to HQT1 to outside networkPCs for Corp (12), Finance (8), MFG (8), MTLS(6), and QA (6)IP phones (40)8 HP laser printersNASWindows Servers (2) Network, E xchangeUNIX Server ERP/ MRPIBM Blade Servers (2)UPS, Router, VOIP data router, Gateway/ switch, switches, hubRiordan will also need a atypical communication channel such as a wide area network (WAN) between Hangzhou and Shanghai during the relocation period. The following are the specific milestones for years one, three and five of the migration plan. yr OneAn IT budget will be developed for the five year migration plan by act all department heads, their leads and architects so that an tenderness of the required effort can be accomplished. The IT infrastructure group will be responsible to make sure server and network equipment transitions are as glitter as possible. Estimated hours from each department as well as from theinfrastructure group will be used to determine the estimated costs in man-hours. The cost of moving the hardware, software, and other equipment will also be estimated. Total costs will be presented to management for approval so that work can be started. In this phase, IT personnel will be recruited and hired, or transferred as needed. In Shanghai, the WAN connection to HQ will be implemented. In addition, a T1 to the outside network and a short-lived WAN connection to Hangzhou will be established for duration of the migration effort.Network equipment will be leased and a new WAN connection contract will be negotiated with a vendor. During this phase, risk logs and issue logs will be maintained and security concerns and issues will be evaluated. Also, a work breakdown structure will be developed to establish tasks which need to be accomplished to successfully complete the relocation.Year ThreeTime lines to move, setup, test the equipment, and utilize the stakeholders at appropriate time will be developed. The time line will be shared with management and discussed in monthly meetings monthly meeting proceedings including the summary of items completed, list of items targeted next, and any issues encountered will be provided. A six-month period will be used to make sure the new system is stable and the old system can be retired.Year FiveMigration of the most critical systems as well as miscellaneous and proportion systems will occur during this phase. New IT personnel will also be recruited and hired during this time. Legal constraints will be resolved and business continuity will be ensured as discussed in the beginning of the migration plan. As discussed previously, a six-month time frame will be used to ensure the new system is stable in the new location and no one is using the old system.
